“Project: Notice Me” is a win-win for Kyle. He’ll do a series of demonstrations at the club and have a good time with people he knows and the fledging Doms who are new to the scene and looking for encouragement from an experienced Sub. And maybe along the way, he’ll attract the attention of the new Dom at the club, the one with terrible taste in fashion, but who has the most intense focus Kyle has ever seen. Let’s be honest, I love everything Eradani writes. I’ve gushed about her Daniel and Ryan series on this blog for ages (I swear, over a year? Has to be at least).  I loved the serial format for that world, but I won’t deny that I was over the moon at the prospect of having a long form novel. Being able to settle in and get lost in one of Eradani’s worlds was delicious.

Eradani is really gifted at writing BDSM and sex in general. Despite the focus on sceneing, on sex, and on intimacy, nothing is ever mechanical. I’m not sure what it is, but I often find that a focus on sex in a book can interrupt the flow of a story, or feel too rote, too step-by-step. Eradani shines in this aspect.

Let me just tell you, Kyle is *everything*. He’s a sassy sub who loves to be the center of attention. He embodies this lovely dichotomy of someone who enjoys playing with those he trusts at Enchanting Encounters, a BDSM club, but who also longs for a permanent partner, a long-term situation. He’s confident and insecure by turns, which feels so utterly human to me.

Kyle’s infatuation with Aiden is initially adorable — after all he knows nothing of him other than that he’s new and alluring. As he gets to know Aiden, and when they begin sceneing, Aiden becomes even more intriguing. An art history professor by day, Aiden exudes an unassuming, settled personal. As a dom, these threads pull through and deepen. He’s confident, in charge without being domineering, and utterly compelling. In so many ways he is a perfect match for Kyle’s deep, vulnerable needs, but also his sassy, attention seeking subby self (alliteration not intended).

Eradani often twists expected plot beats. What felt like a pivotal scene between Aiden and Kyle: a “simpler” scene where they are on a date becomes an incredibly important turning point that affects Kyle deeply in a way I wasn’t expecting. It set up what needed to happen between the two of them to cross a particular hurdle, but also set up a storyline we’re left wondering about: what happened with Kyle’s old dom?

I cannot wait for the next installment of this series, and highly recommend it.
