“Wake me up, when September ends…” Kidding! Looking at all those amazing books that are to be released this month we feel like someone should keep us awake & only let us sleep the bare minimum, so we can get as much reading time as possible!

The one book that absolutely stood out and was just everything to me was His Quiet Agent by Ada Maria Soto. I’ve probably said everything I could in my review. Both protagonists are on the asexual-spectrum and as asexual reader I found the rep to be one of the best I’ve read. I don’t want to repeat everything I already said in my review, so just go and read that. And then read the book. 😉

Arthur Drams works for a secret government security agency, but all he really does is spend his days in a cubical writing reports no one reads. After getting another “lateral promotion” by a supervisor who barely remembers his name, it’s suggested that Arthur try to ‘make friends’ and ‘get noticed’ in order to move up the ladder. It’s like high school all over again: his attempts to be friendly come across as awkward and creepy, and no one wants to sit at the same table with him at lunch. In a last-ditch attempt to be seen as friendly and outgoing, he decides to make friends with The Alien, aka Agent Martin Grove, known for his strange eating habits, unusual reading choices, and the fact that no one has spoken to him in three years.

Starting with a short, surprisingly interesting conversation on sociology books, Arthur slowly begins to chip away at The Alien’s walls using home-cooked meals to lure the secretive agent out of his abrasive shell. Except Martin just might be something closer to an actual secret agent than paper-pusher Arthur is, and it might be more than hearts at risk when something more than friendship begins to develop.

There are SO many September releases I’m looking forward to that I really can’t choose one I’m looking forward to the most.

One of them is Welcome to Crash by Lina Langley. I love the sound of the blurb, even though I’m not sure about the love-triangle part, but I definitely want to give that a try.

At first, Damien feels lucky to land a job at an influential art studio, but it soon becomes obvious that something’s not right. His gorgeous boss, John, is interested, and he’d be the perfect man for Damien—if Damien wasn’t already in a relationship. I’m currently reading Fortitude Smashed by Taylor Brooke and even though I thought I’d really like it, I didn’t expect to be sucked in like this. I love Aiden and have probably highlighted half of what I’ve read so far (I’m about 60% through) because it’s so beautifully written. I love the prose and it’s definitely on track to become one of my 2017-favourites.

After scientists stumbled across an anomalous human hormone present during moments of emotional intimacy, further research created the ability to harness the direction of living energy and pinpoint when two lines will merge. I also have to mention The Love Song of Sawyer Bell because that story is fantastic! Avon Gale’s first F/F (of hopefully many more to come) that just comes to live on page. I read an early draft of it and can’t wait for everyone else to read it! We have two kickass MC’s who burn up the sheets!

I gotta split my love for August between two incredible books.

Permanent Ink by Piper Vaughn and Avon Gale took me by such surprise! I knew I would like it because I love these authors’ work so much, but I wasn’t expecting my reaction to this one! I think I ignored my kids in order to devour this one, and as soon as I was done (like, probably within half an hour) I was clamoring at the authors on twitter for more. A+

At twenty-three, Poe Montgomery is going nowhere. He still lives in his father’s basement and spends most of his time tagging with his friends. Blended Notes by Lilah Suzanne is a book I’ve been waiting a long time for. It’s the final book in her Spotlight series trilogy, and it brought together so many very lovely things. The series brings character arcs to these beautiful conclusions that don’t feel contrived, but that feel like real love, in real life. We finally got a book in Grady’s perspective, which was a joy as well. I’m so happy with the way this trilogy ended, I know I’ll be treasuring all three for years to come.

Grady Dawson’s future looks bright. He’s at the top of his country music career, has a close-knit group of friends who have become his Nashville family, and has found solid ground in his personal life as he plans his intimate, private wedding with Nico, his stylist turned lover turned love of his life. September is looking to be a hella promising month! (That’s right, I said hella). Like Annie, I’ve started (okay, okay, I couldn’t help myself I devoured it) Fortitude Smashed and like Annie, I can say it will definitely be a 2017 highlight. I am also excited about all the great things I am hearing surrounding The Rules and Regulations for Mediating Myths and Magic by F.T. Lukens. Also, my level of squeeeeeee over the fact that the next Tamryn Eradani (Caught in Between) is coming out in 12 days cannot be contained. I cannot wait to get my greedy hands on it!
