Annie’s review of After the Sunset

After the Sunset is a sweet novella about Caleb and Ty, vastly different men who have never met before, and yet are chosen as beneficiaries to a strangers will. While they are both at a cross-roads in similar careers (they are actors), they work on different sides of the country and have never heard of each other. Together, they have to decide what to do with the farm that’s been left to them.

I’m not always a huge fan of short stories and novellas because I’m a greedy reader who often wants more. I doubt that’s a feeling that will ever change — but it’s also not a bad thing because if I want more, that means I loved what I did get.

I loved this novella. It was sweet and lovely. It had lovely substories happening, which takes skill to work into a short space. Suzanne’s gift for romcom writing and for hitting strong emotional chords shines in this story. I loved this novella so much that when I reached the end, I cursed the writing gods for not giving me a seven novel series. I want to know more about how their relationship develops. I want to see them working on a little farm, laughing at the goat-tastrophes. I want to watch their dream and their play succeed. I really wanna see what happens with that lube Ty bought (okay, that’s just a joke, I can figure that out. I wouldn’t say no to bonus sexy scenes, because they had wonderful chemistry).

I definitely recommend this novella if you need a sexy, happily after that is imbued with humor and strong characters.
