Despite the amnesia story, this book felt like a light and easy read. I don’t want to spoil the big reveal, but I will say that it was well crafted. For the most part, the world and suspense (if we would call it that) building to the reveal was well done. I knew there was a big twist coming, so I found that I was trying to problem solve along with Noah. I did find that the pacing of the book was a little inconsistent — a tiny bit slow leading up to the reveal, then speeding up, and then a tiny lull before the end. That said, I couldn’t put this book down, which speaks volumes.

Despite not having Jason’s POV, I really connected with him as a character — big credit to Springer, because this can be tricky to pull off. While we didn’t get to see a complete package (ahhh, the limitations of single person POV), I really felt for him. The way his heartbreak was written really tugged at my heartstrings.

While I enjoyed Noah, at times I did feel like I was being told rather than shown particular emotions or changes. I don’t want to reveal anything big, but suffice to say that while he was a great character, I felt like there was room for some more character development or building with him. Occasionally I felt as though we were being given contradictory thoughts from him. I admired his journey and growth throughout and was very happy for him when success came to him.

I would recommend this book and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
